From Uchtdorf To Hospital Bed

Week 3


This week was the best one yet! On Tuesday we had a devotional where elder Uchtdorf came and spoke to us! As soon as he walked into the room you could feel the spirit rush in. He inspired me with his words and made me remember why I am doing this. It's because of the love of Jesus Christ for me and my love for Him. 


The rest of the week was pretty normal with classes, volleyball, and hacky sack. We made MEGABED which is three beds stacked on top of each other (see the bottom for picture). I finished all my classes and on Sunday after lunch my stomach started hurting really bad. At first I thought is was because of the food because how great the food is there. The pain didn't go away so muscled through the rest of the meetings and finally got to my dorm. I fell asleep in my suit. I then and changed and went to the bathroom and little did I know that that is where I would be sleeping the rest of the night. I puked every hour but it wasn't making me feel any better. I slept on the bathroom floor that night because I couldn't make it back to my dorm. I finally got the strength to get back to my room and me and my companion made our way to the health clinic. It probably took us 30 minutes to get to the health clinic because I could barely make 100 feet without having to take a break. I make it to the health clinic and the doctor says he wants me to go to the ER to see if I have appendicitis. They called a shuttle for me and the driver was not holding back on those turns haha. I felt like death when I checked in. I then waited in my room for like an hour until my mom got there. I got a dose of morphine which made a me feel like a million bucks haha. I then had a CT scan and confirmed that I had appendicitis. I said by to my awesome comp, Elder Caldwell who helped me so much during this time, and went into surgery. I am now at home for 1-2 to weeks to recover. This experience confirms that Heavenly Father knows me and everyone personally and knows exactly what we are going through. I had finished everything in the MTC and I was supposed to leave the next day the Newport. This literally happened at the perfect time, and there is no doubt in my mind that this was a miracle from God.

Hey everyone! This week went by quick. Some cool things happened this week where 80 marines showed up to church yesterday and it was such a cool experience to be able to teach so many of them. We also put our friend Francisco, whose a marine, on date for baptism for December 9th. Our friend Isaiah is still solid and is getting baptized this Saturday. He shared with me that sometimes he doesn't want to come to church but he goes anyways, and he feels this peace that he has never felt before and he said that he knows that this church is true.  We usually do our calls and text on the San Clemente Pier, because it right by our apartment, and there are a lot of people fishing off the pier. So one night we were at the pier doing some phone calls and all of a sudden there's this teenaged kid running up and down the pier being drug by his pole. Oh Glory

Hey everyone! Hope your week was good! This week was crazy for me. We took our recent convert Rick to the hospital because he has an infection in his arm and it blew up like a balloon. His arm looked like the Pillsbury dough boy. Also, we found some really cool people who have been able to find out the Book of Mormon is true by themselves! Also yesterday an old friend that hasn't met with the missionaries in a little bit, met with us yesterday and said that she wants to get baptized! Her name is Sherry and her date is October 21st. Overall good week. This week I went on an exchange into a bike area. It is actually pretty fun being on bikes because it's good to get your blood pumping. I also learned how to ride with no hands during the exchange. But we were riding along the street and I stopped to talk to these people and I stepped off my bike pedal to stable myself. Out Of Place

Hey everyone! Hope your week was great. This week was a blur for me. Halloween came and went pretty fast and now it has already almost been a week. This week we had a halloween party for the YSA ward, we had MLC the day after, and went on an exchange with some Elders that are on bikes but the members gave them Ebikes, so overall pretty good week. Like I said, we had a Halloween party with the YSA ward. We weren't going to dress up, but the Sisters also serving in the ward said that everyone was dressing up and you need to dress up or else you will be lame. So we went to every halloween store near us during our dinner hour frantically searching for a costume to buy. We went to TJ Maxx and found some onesies. I got a Grinch one and my compainion got a minion. We bought them and went over to the church.
