The Man With Metal Rod

Hey everyone!!! I hope your week was fantasmic!!! Mine went by pretty quick because of all the exchanges we have been doing. We had three this week so I'm pretty exhausted haha. It's kind of weird because it still feels like it's august so it doesn't really feel like the holiday season haha. At first I was really bummed that I couldn't my favorite holiday movies like The Grinch with Jim Carrey, but it's OK now because me and my companion literally quote that entire movie daily hahaha along with other movies and TV shows.


I have been having a blast with the YSA ward and going on campus! We go to campus with a whiteboard, and have a question on it. Like this week was the question "What is your favorite pet?" It's such a great icebreaker and we have met some pretty cool people by doing it. One day we spent 6 hours on campus with the whiteboard and it was so fun! 


A funny thing that happened this week was when I was on an exchange with Eder Burton. We drove up to Irvine (which is like a half an hour away) to stop by this inactive member in the YSA ward, and we started walking up to the door and as soon as we stepped foot on this guy's property, the guys dad came out and went all Mr. Nevercracker from monster house on us. He said some choice words to say to us and he had this weird metal rod in his hand hahaha. We then apologized and said to have a good day and then his demeanor changed and he said "you have a good day too." It was so cool to see how just being nice to those who give you trouble can ease the tension and you can have a positive influence on them.


The spiritual thought this week is about Joseph Smiths account of the first vision. 


"15 After I had retired to the place where I had previously designed to go, having looked around me, and finding myself alone, I kneeled down and began to offer up the desires of my heart to God. I had scarcely done so, when immediately I was seized upon by some power which entirely overcame me, and had such an astonishing influence over me as to bind my tongue so that I could not speak. Thick darkness gathered around me, and it seemed to me for a time as if I were doomed to sudden destruction.
16 But, exerting all my powers to call upon God to deliver me out of the power of this enemy which had seized upon me, and at the very moment when I was ready to sink into despair and abandon myself to destruction—not to an imaginary ruin, but to the power of some actual being from the unseen world, who had such marvelous power as I had never before felt in any being—just at this moment of great alarm, I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. 
17 It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!"


This shows that sometimes in life you feel like Joseph when he thought that he was doomed to sudden destruction, but God won't leave us alone. All we have to do is ask for His divine help like Joseph did when he said "But, exerting all my powers to call upon God to deliver me out of the power of this enemy which had seized upon me" and he will deliver us at the moment we need it. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and I know that when we call upon our Heavenly Father, He will deliver us no matter what even if it's not on our timing.

Hey everyone! This week went by quick. Some cool things happened this week where 80 marines showed up to church yesterday and it was such a cool experience to be able to teach so many of them. We also put our friend Francisco, whose a marine, on date for baptism for December 9th. Our friend Isaiah is still solid and is getting baptized this Saturday. He shared with me that sometimes he doesn't want to come to church but he goes anyways, and he feels this peace that he has never felt before and he said that he knows that this church is true.  We usually do our calls and text on the San Clemente Pier, because it right by our apartment, and there are a lot of people fishing off the pier. So one night we were at the pier doing some phone calls and all of a sudden there's this teenaged kid running up and down the pier being drug by his pole. Oh Glory

Hey everyone! Hope your week was good! This week was crazy for me. We took our recent convert Rick to the hospital because he has an infection in his arm and it blew up like a balloon. His arm looked like the Pillsbury dough boy. Also, we found some really cool people who have been able to find out the Book of Mormon is true by themselves! Also yesterday an old friend that hasn't met with the missionaries in a little bit, met with us yesterday and said that she wants to get baptized! Her name is Sherry and her date is October 21st. Overall good week. This week I went on an exchange into a bike area. It is actually pretty fun being on bikes because it's good to get your blood pumping. I also learned how to ride with no hands during the exchange. But we were riding along the street and I stopped to talk to these people and I stepped off my bike pedal to stable myself. Out Of Place

Hey everyone! Hope your week was great. This week was a blur for me. Halloween came and went pretty fast and now it has already almost been a week. This week we had a halloween party for the YSA ward, we had MLC the day after, and went on an exchange with some Elders that are on bikes but the members gave them Ebikes, so overall pretty good week. Like I said, we had a Halloween party with the YSA ward. We weren't going to dress up, but the Sisters also serving in the ward said that everyone was dressing up and you need to dress up or else you will be lame. So we went to every halloween store near us during our dinner hour frantically searching for a costume to buy. We went to TJ Maxx and found some onesies. I got a Grinch one and my compainion got a minion. We bought them and went over to the church.
