Elder Workman, A Barber?

Hey everyone! Hope everyone had a good week. This week was pretty great. I did the Blazin Challenge at Buffalo wild wings, the consequences are still haunting me from that decision, and I was able to fix a guy's car door on the street using the rubber band I had for some church cards, #MacGyver.

There has been a tragedy this week. My hair was getting pretty long on the top, so I decided to take matters into my own hands and cut my own hair. I thought a 5 guard for the clippers would be good enough to just trim a little off and still leave a good amount of hair on top. So I decided it would be smart to go out on the porch with no mirror and start buzzing away. After the first stroke through my hair, I noticed a huge clump of hair fall down to the ground. I thought to myself, "Huh, my hair was a lot longer than I thought," and then I kept going. I then decided to go look in the mirror to see how my fresh cut was looking. When I walked in, and looked in the mirror I saw buzz lightyear staring back at me. In my horror, I called out to my companion and he just started laughing. We then went and checked what guard I used to cut my hair. It was a 5 alright...a 5 millimeter! So it looks like I will be rocking the buzz for a while. Maybe I'll bleach my hair and go full Slim Shady, who knows.

This weeks spiritual thought comes from a pretty famous scripture in the Bible, it is Luke 22:42 it says "42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done." This is Jesus praying to Heavenly Father asking if there was any other way that His work could be accomplished. Jesus was about to take the weight of the sins, and effects of sin, of everyone who has ever lived and ever will live, upon Himself. He didn't want to suffer all of that, but he gave up his will and performed the greatest act of charity that ever has and ever will occur, according to the will of our Father in Heaven. Charity, the pure love of Christ, comes from submitting our own will to our Father's will. If we want to be more charitable, we need to keep the first great commandment, which is loving God with all of our heart, might, mind and strength. If we do that and submit our wills to Him, we will naturally keep the second great commandment, which is loving our neighbors as ourselves. As we strive to submit our will little by little, we will be, not act, but BE more charitable. We will be able to to have a front row seat in watching Jesus Christ do what he does best, make things beautiful. I love Jesus with all of my heart, and I know that He is just as capable of performing miracles today as He was when he came to the earth in the flesh. He is as alive as ever. Have a great week!
