Life Is A Highway

Hey everyone! You know it's a great week when it consists of May the 4th and revenge of the 5th/Cinco de mayo. Since it is the end of the school year, the college was doing a "Battle of the bands" on campus this week. When we were walking around campus we would stop and listen to these bands and I was actually amazed on how many ways you can butcher songs haha.

This week we had a leadership council in irvine which is about an hour and a half away from San Marcos. So five of us made the trek up to Irvine in one car. I was gracefully forced to sit in the middle with the hump for both there and back by the other missionaries. Going up wasn't too bad, because it only took us an hour and fifteen minutes to get there. Going back was a different story. It was stop and go traffic for almost three hours to get home and I was in the middle hump. One of the Elders on the side of me was pretty tired so he decided to take a little nappy and take up half of my already limited leg space and proceded to snore in my ear for the entire car ride. The Elder on the other side of me had "hip problems" so he had to spread his legs to relieve his aching hips. The Elder in the front seat was cold so the heat was blasting and I was sweating bullets. And to top it all off we had the church youth music bumping the entire time, which isn't bad in small increments, but for 3 hours it starts to get on your nerves. By the end of that car ride my body had morphed into the seat and was stuck in a squatting position drenched in sweat because it was like a sauna in there. I had also lost my hearing in my right ear from the snoring, and my sanity from the music. But other than that it was a good car ride haha.

The spiritual thought this week is about the Saviors atonement. I feel like we don't notice the effects of the atonement as much as we should in our lives. Here is a quote by Henry B. Eyring, it says "If you have felt the influence of the Holy Ghost during this day, or even this evening. You may take it as evidence that the atonement is working in your life." What does the Holy Ghost feel like? In Galatians 5:22-23 it gives us what the Holy Ghost feels like, it says "22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." So whenever you feel love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance, that is proof that our loving Saviors atoning sacrifice is working in your life. If the Savior didn't suffer for our sins (and the effects of sin), died, and lived again for each and every one of us, then we would be able to feel any of these during this life. So I invite you all to notice whenever you feel this feelings, and remember Jesus's atoning sacrifice. I know He lives! Have a great week!
