Mary Poppins Couch

Hey everyone! Hope everyone had a great week! My week was amazing because our friend Simon got Baptized on Saturday! I also got transferred on Friday to Irvine. My new companions name is Elder Steele and he is the real "steele" (insert courtesy laugh). I am now out of ysa work, but it was a good run.

This weekend we visited one of our recent converts in the ward and he was telling us all about his youth and how he was shot in the hip when he was 14 because he beat a kid in marbles and how he was stabbed when he was 20 while he was working as a security guard. The guys done everything. He had us help him find his sister's phone that he lost and he told us to start flipping over the cushions of the couch. We found the phone and we also found so much crap underneath those cushions. We found like 3 smoke detectors, a phone, and a light bulb. How the light bulb didn't break, I don't know. But we kept pulling stuff out of the couch and it was like Mary Poppins couch. I was dying when he told us that the reason the smoke detectors were underneath the cushions was because they were low battery and they were beeping, do instead of changing the batteries he decided to ripped them off the ceiling and throw them under the cushions. We then asked him about the light bulb and he said that he didn't know why it was there, and he told us to just put it back because he didn't know what to do with it. He was taking the phrase "Out of sight, out of mind" to the next level.

This weeks spiritual thought is from the Book of Mormon in 1 Nephi 10:18-19 "18 For he is the same yesterday, today, and forever; and the way is prepared for all men from the foundation of the world, if it so be that they repent and come unto him. 19 For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost, as well in these times as in times of old, and as well in times of old as in times to come; wherefore, the course of the Lord is one eternal round." Something that I have been learning while I have been on my mission is that the only thing that's constant in this world is change. Change is hard and can sometimes be scary, but as we hold to Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father in these hard changing times we can find peace in the storm. Jesus Christ is our Anchor and He won't let us get tossed to and fro if we are clinging to Him. He truly is the Prince of Peace and I know He lives. Have a great week!
