A Little Rinse Off

Hey Everyone! Hope everything is going well and that you had a great week! This week we helped an old lady who was currently getting scammed block the scammer, had a great MLC meeting where I got so see some missionaries that I haven't seen in a while, and we helped a guy get into rehab. So overall a pretty good week in my book.

This week we went over to Rick's (our recent convert who got attacked by a cactus a few weeks ago) and he was in a rush to get to work. He said that he didn't have enough time to shower but he needed to rinse off. He then said "You know what I'm going to do. I'm going to jump in the neighbors pool." Me and my companion just chuckled but all of a sudden he was outside. He then went out his back gate which is pretty much a briar patch, in bare feet, and walked all the way around to the neighbors back gate. He then tip toed to the pool like they do in Tom and Jerry, thinking that the neighbors are going to be able to hear his footsteps but not the enormous splash that he is about to make. He then did a pencil dive with all of his clothes on. He then came out and walked through the briar patch again now soaking wet. When he got back he was way more dirty than he was before, and now he was all wet. We then shared a scripture and left. Rick never seems to amaze us.

This weeks spiritual thought is about sacrificing our will and submitting to the Fathers will. The obvious, but perfect example of this is Jesus Christ in the Garden of Gehtsemane. in Luke 22:42 it says "42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done." Jesus Christ didn't want to go through all of that pain and anguish that he knew was ahead of Him, and He was asking if it had to be done. But in the manner of a meek, humble, and submissive child, He was ready to accept the Fathers will to save all of His brothers and sisters. I can't comprehend how our Heavenly Father felt after His Only Begotten Son made this plea. But something that I love about this example, is what happens in the next verse. It says "43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him." I imagine a loving Heavenly Father with tears in His eyes sending an angel imediately after this plea, trying to communicate to His Son that there is no other way, but I will send strength for you to do my will. Jesus Christ overcome and performed the Fathers will, and now sits on the right hand of God and has inherited all that He has. Sometimes its hard in our life to come to grips with Heavenly Fathers will, but if there is one thing that those verses show is that Heavenly Father always sends strength to do that will when we are willing to fully submit. We can find strength and comfort in our older brother Jesus Christ who overcame sin, death, and the hardsips of our personal lives for us. As we strive to submit our wills to Heavenly Father's will, we can a perfect brightness of hope that everything will work our in the best way possible in the end. I know that we have a loving Heavenly Father and Savior that live! Have a great week.
