Dory Moment
Hey everyone!!!! Hope you all had a great week. I can't believe that it is already Monday again. Time is flying. this week was pretty good. I did a Murph with my mission president and I am still walking funny. We also had zone conference and I got to see a lot of missionaries that I haven't seen in a while. The work is going well and I love my ward.
This week we were tracting in this apartment complex and we saw one of our members named Brother Blye. He was walking his dog that looked like the rat from The Princess Bride. The guy hasn't groomed that thing since the depression. Brother Blye hands out 10 Book of Mormons a week and then comes to us at church and roasts us for not handing out as many as him, not in a joking way. So when I saw him coming around the corner, I tried to suck in my gut and hide behind the light pole. I'm pretty sure he picked up on our scent and like a bloodhound. He then came up to us and with a firm command said "Follow me." Me and my companion looked at each other and then started following him. We followed him in the heat for about 8-10 minutes back to his apartment. When he put his keys in the door, he turned around and said "Why are you following me?" The guy had a full blown Dory moment. I then responded by saying "That's a really good question." He then said "Well see you at church." And gave us some water and we went back to tracting. It was a good little side quest to a kind of a boring day.
This weeks spiritual thought comes from 2 Nephi 2:25-26 in the Book of Mormon, it says "25 Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy. 26 And the Messiah cometh in the fulness of time, that he may redeem the children of men from the fall. And because that they are redeemed from the fall they have become free forever, knowing good from evil; to act for themselves and not to be acted upon..." Adam fell so we can learn, grow, experience joy, and become more like our Father in Heaven. In this life we have the ability to choose good and evil. Sometimes we choose the easier wrong over the harder right. But that's OK Jesus Christ came down and suffered, bled, and died to pay the price of our sins. He bought us with His blood so He can give us grace and allow us to right our wrongs and become better through them. He did it because first of all He loves us infinitely, and second of all He saw our potential as children of God and knew that we can someday become like our Father in Heaven. This life is meant for learning and growing, so its OK to mess up. As long as we are striving to be cleansed and change by the atoning blood of Jesus Christ, He will carry us home. I know He lives!!! Hope you all have a great week!!!
