Gordon Ramsey

Ayo everyone! I hope you all had a great week, and happy Labor Day! This week was pretty good, we got to go to our mission leadership council meeting and I got to see a bunch of my old companions. We were able to find some pretty cool people as well.

This week we street contacted this guy named Johnny and he seemed really interested. We set up a tour of our church building on Saturday. So on Saturday we get a member to come with us and Johnny comes to the church for a tour. We start in the chapel and we start talking about the Sacrament and how we take the bread and the water in remembrance of Jesus Christ. He then said "That actually reminds me of a story..." I was very intrigued to hear what he was going to say. He then went on to say "I have lived a very good life. I have made a lot of money, and I am friends with a lot of famous people." and that was it. I sat there for a second to hear how this applied, but nope he just felt like he needed to say that. It was neither a story nor a comment that had anything to do with what we were talking about. As the church tour went on he would start talking about how he has done it all except for learn how to cook. He rambled as we showed him all the rooms, about how he has been watching cooking shows for 20 years and still hasn't learned how to cook. He told us and I quote "I am the most humble person I know." End quote. At the end of the tour we shared a video of the first vision and told him that the Saviors true church is on the earth today, and he said "That reminds me of a story..." and went on to say "Have you ever seen Gordon Ramsey cook?" Once again it was't a story nor was it applicable to the conversation. Good Old Johnny.

This weeks spiritual thought comes from the Book of Mormon in 2 Nephi 2:27 it says "27 Wherefore, men are free according to the flesh; and all things are given them which are expedient unto man. And they are free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men, or to choose captivity and death, according to the captivity and power of the devil; for he seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself." This verse explains what the great gift of agency is. Heavenly Father has given us agency not so we can choose to do whatever we want, but to be able to choose life or death. We can choose to distance ourselves from God and become captive to the consequences of our choices and eventually die spiritually because we are separated from God. Or we can choose to come to Christ and remain free to act for ourselves and live for ever with our God that gives us life. Our Savior has overcome captivity and death for us so He can help us. All we have to do is ask for His help. Choose Jesus and I promise you will recieve a joy that you didn't even know that you could feel. I know He lives and that He loves us and that He is calling for us to come home. Have a great week!
