Pop A Squat
Hey everyone! I hope you had a great week. This week was pretty good, we had an oil change at the first of the week that took five-ever. We went on some exchanges and had some really good lessons with our friends. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be doing this work for my Savior Jesus Christ.
This week we had a lesson with this guy that invited us to come back. So we get to his house and I sit down on his couch and we were small talking a little bit when from around the corner a great dane comes in and this thing weighs more than me. His name is Walter. Walter comes right up to me and turns around and sits on my lap. Have you ever had a horse sit on you? Well if you don't have a horse just borrow someones great dane, its the same thing. Not only was I getting crushed by a huge dog that was a little too eager to sit on Santa's lap to tell him what he wanted for Christmas, the guy we were visiting ended up being a Bible basher. I could only imagine what I looked like defending my faith with a great dane sitting on my lap. After like an hour of talking to this guy, we had to leave, so I had to get Walter off of me and then relearn how to walk. The bright side is that our conversation with that guy turned into him wanting to read the Book of Mormon and praying about it, so that's a win.
This weeks spiritual thought comes from Matthew 14 where Peter walks on the water with Jesus. This story has so many good lessons. Peter is a fisherman and he knows that the number one rule is to stay in the boat, that symbolizes his comfort zone. He then steps out of the boat (his comfort zone) to go to Jesus. Most of the time being a disciple of Jesus Christ is uncomfortable and Jesus beckons us to come unto Him. As Peter loses focus on the Savior and looks at the circumstances around him he starts to sink. I found what Peter does next to be interesting. It says in Matthew 14:30 "But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me." Instead of Peter trying to swim back to the boat after he messed up or after failing trying to go back to his comfort zone, he cries to the Lord to save him and pull him to where he needs to be. The Savior came down so we have the opportunity to make mistakes and to learn from them, not to make a mistake and never try again. He wants us to become better so when we get out of our comfort zone and fail, cry to the Lord to pull you up. I know He lives! have a great week!
