We're Gonna Need A Bigger Pole

Hey everyone! This week went by quick. Some cool things happened this week where 80 marines showed up to church yesterday and it was such a cool experience to be able to teach so many of them. We also put our friend Francisco, whose a marine, on date for baptism for December 9th. Our friend Isaiah is still solid and is getting baptized this Saturday. He shared with me that sometimes he doesn't want to come to church but he goes anyways, and he feels this peace that he has never felt before and he said that he knows that this church is true.

We usually do our calls and text on the San Clemente Pier, because it right by our apartment, and there are a lot of people fishing off the pier. So one night we were at the pier doing some phone calls and all of a sudden there's this teenaged kid running up and down the pier being drug by his pole. He was screaming for help from the lobster people. He was yelling "Lobster people, help! I've got a huge lobster!" The pole kept dragging him up and down the pier, and I thought to myself that this lobster must have been huge, like Larry lobster from SpongeBob. So it takes like 5 other people to help him get control of this "lobster" and he starts reeling in. After a few minutes of reeling this thing in, we saw that it was definitely not a lobster because we saw a grey fin. It was a 4 foot long shark that was just looking for a midnight snack at the San Clemente pier. They tried to bring it up in a lobster cage but the line broke as they were about to put it in. Crazy stuff down put here in South Orange county.

The spiritual thought of the week comes from Alma 34:38 "38 That ye contend no more against the Holy Ghost, but that ye receive it, and take upon you the name of Christ; that ye humble yourselves even to the dust, and worship God, in whatsoever place ye may be in, in spirit and in truth; and that ye live in thanksgiving daily, for the many mercies and blessings which he doth bestow upon you." This week for Thanksgiving has caused me to reflect on how lucky I am to have come to this earth, at this time, with the family and friends that I have surrounding me, having the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life, and having a loving Savior who took my place and recieved my punishment for me. Jesus freely gives life, peace, light, and joy into our lives. All we requires of us is to simply follow Him, and He allows us to come back when we have gone astray. He is the Christ and my friend. I know He lives! Have a great week.
