Independence Day

Hey everyone and happy Easter! Hope your week was good as we celebrated our Saviors resurrection. This week was pretty good, it got pretty rainy towards the end of the week but we were still able to find a good amount of people that were interested in learning more! Our friend Roland's baptism got pushed back to April 13th so please be praying for him!

Every week we wake up and play basketball with some guys in the stake and in the community. The age range is 20-85, so I bet you can imagine what kind of basketball we're playing. There is this one old guy that's in his late 70's named Randy. He kinda just shuffles around and is an obstacle for both teams but he is the best and we all love him. One morning this week we were playing a game and I cut down the middle towards the basket. The guy with the ball saw me and tried to thread the needle but his reaction time is not what it used to be and after I was long gone he decided to fire it in there. He threw that thing harder than the Bills in the Superbowl. It just so happened that Randy was mosying through the middle right as he threw it, and Randy was pelted by the the ball and dropped to the ground. It reminded me of when that bird swooped in front of Nolan Ryan's pitch exploded. After giving him a few minutes and readjusting his dentures he was fine. Randy truly is an example of perseverance.

Because it was Easter yesterday, this thought centers around the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This scripture comes from 3 Nephi 11:15 it says "15 And it came to pass that the multitude went forth, and thrust their hands into his side, and did feel the prints of the nails in his hands and in his feet; and this they did do, going forth one by one until they had all gone forth, and did see with their eyes and did feel with their hands, and did know of a surety and did bear record, that it was he, of whom it was written by the prophets, that should come." This scripture tells us that we have a multitude of witnesses of the risen Lord. Easter is the universal independence day, because we celebrate how Jesus Christ freed every living creature from both spiritual and physical death. I know without a shadow of a doubt that 2000 years ago that tomb was empty and Christ walked victorious out of it for us and our families. I know He lives! Have a great week!
