The Long And Winding Road

Hey everyone! Hope you week went well. This week went by like a blurr. We have some awesome people that we are teaching and we have been super busy teaching them throughout the week. This Sunday we had special sacrament meeting and Brad Wilcox came! Another YSA joined ours and it was the YSA ward I was in a year ago so I got see some old friends.

This week our friend needed help doing some yard work so we decided to go help him. We thought that it would be a great idea to bring a member from the ward along so he can fellowship. The thing is, is that the member doesn't have a car but he said he would come. So we got to the house and called the member to make sure he was coming. He answered and he had just woken up, red flag number one. He said that he would be right over, so we started working. After about an hour of working he still hadn't showed so we called him again. He answered and said that he is just about to pull up. We then continued working and finished all of the work that needed to be done, and were wondering what happen to our member. We called him again and he said that he was lost. He sent us his location and he had walked 15 minutes in the wrong direction. We then had to guide him all the way to the house. While on the phone with us he encountered not one but two dogs that chased him and then almost went the wrong way again. But after a long phone call and holding our breath that he wasn't about to be torn to shreds by dogs, he made it. He looked like he had been through a war. He was all sweaty and dirty from the long journey. If you looked at the group of us at first glance you would have thought that he did all of our friends yard and the neighbors yard by himself and we just stood and watched. But in the end it worked out and they got to know each other and after about a 5 minute conversation he was on the road again to walk home.

This weeks spiritual thought comes from Ether 12:27 in the Book of Mormon. It says "27 And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them." I love this verse because it tells us that our weaknesses are God given. We all have weaknesses and if we humble ourselves, those weaknesses can become the greatest gift from God. We need to cut ourselves some slack because those weaknesses are from God. We also need to not judge others for their weaknesses because they are God given. As we realize our weaknesses and humble ourselves before God, Jesus Christ will work miracles in our lives and will perfect us. I know that He is alive today and and if you look you will find Him! Have a great week!
