Shivers Down The Spine
Hey everyone! Hope everyone's week was good! This week we had zone conference and I got to see a bunch of my old companions and friends in the mission. Most of our time has been spent teaching which is different from how the rest of my mission has been. We have some really cool people that we are teaching! Recruit Boyd, one of the marines that I taught on base got baptized on Sunday. It's kinda crazy because we only have about 3 weeks to baptize them so we have to teach them quick and make sure they understand.
Every Friday we play volleyball with the YSA ward and we had one of our friends come. We were having a great time and our friend was liking it too. Our friend was on the front line and was right in front of the server. The server was on a roll and had aced the past 4 or 5 serves. The last one got away from him a little bit but that was the one he hit the hardest. He smacked that ball so hard that it started to whistle. It whistled right into the back of our friend. The gym went silent and and everyone groaned. I know without a doubt that there was a Wilson imprint on his spine. I went over to see if he was ok and then me and my companion went to "get a drink" and just died laughing. The volleyball to the back didn't seem to deter him from coming to church though.
This weeks spiritual thought is about Joseph Smiths first vision. In Joseph's own words he said “I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. … When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!” One of my favorite things to do as a missionary is to recite this account with our friends. I have never had a time where I share it and the spirit hasn't testified with power of the truthfulness of this account. I feel a profound amount of peace everytime I share it. It's not just a cool experience that Jospeph had, it's the meaning behind the experience that gives it power. That vision was the start of the restoration of our loving Saviors gospel that provides the opportunity for us to live with our families, Heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ forever. That experience started the process of us being able to be bound to Jesus Christ for this life and the next through covenants and so much more. I know without doubt that Joseph had this experience and that Jesus lives! Have a great week!
