Sleeping Beauties

Hey everyone! This week was a quick one haha. Those temple days make the week go by fast! We got a referral from the missionaries in Anahiem for a guy who just moved to our area and we put him on date for May 29th! His name is Young and he is super cool. We also had a great week on base and got to teach some more recruits. We should have one baptism this Sunday there, which is exciting.

This week on base I got to teach a few recruits at the same time. The thing about teaching the recruits is that you have to teach fast but in a way that they can understand because they are only here for four weeks. So time is precious. Another challenge is that it is 6am when we are teaching them and they are already tired from being in bootcamp so they are fighting to stay awake. As I was teaching these four recruits, I would be making eye contact with one of them and they would fall asleep as they were looking at me. Then I would look over and the other ones would be asleep and snoring. I then had to tell them that if they wanted to be baptized, they needed to learn this stuff so they needed to stay awake. I then told them that I would tap their leg if they were dozing. So all throughout that lesson I was constantly tapping one of their legs. It was like playing a fun game of wack-a-marine. It all worked out because they were able to repeat the plan of salvation back to me after the lesson haha.

This weeks spiritual thought comes from Mormon 9:13 in the Book of Mormon. It says "13 And because of the redemption of man, which came by Jesus Christ, they are brought back into the presence of the Lord; yea, this is wherein all men are redeemed, because the death of Christ bringeth to pass the resurrection, which bringeth to pass a redemption from an endless sleep, from which sleep all men shall be awakened by the power of God when the trump shall sound; and they shall come forth, both small and great, and all shall stand before his bar, being redeemed and loosed from this eternal band of death, which death is a temporal death." As I went to the temple on Wednesday I was reminded of the reality and weight of what Jesus Christ did for us. I remembered that because He came down and suffered, died, and lived again for us, death has no victory. I pictured that day where I got to reunite with Him, my Father in Heaven, and my family as an immortal being. I was able to truly understand that all that is unfair about this life can and will be made right through the atonement of Jesus Christ. I know He lives! Have a great week!
