Getting Smoked

Hey everyone! Hope your week was good! This week went by so fast. I think the weeks go faster and faster as time goes by. This past week we had two baptisms. We had a recruit get baptized and our friend Michael got baptized into the ysa ward. It was such a cool week being able to see 5 children of God come back into His fold.

There is never a dull moment serving on the military base. There isn't any AC in the building that we have sacrament meeting in so we have to open the doors for any relief. The only bad thing about that is that we are on a military base where recruits are getting ripped to shreds by their drill instructors. They call it "getting smoked" whenever that happened. I've heard some crazy stories from the recruits about getting smoked, but I got to witness it with my own eyes this past Sunday. In the middle of sacrament this poor recruit that was right outside of our building was caught by a drill instructor and got smoked hard. The drill instructor yelled "PUSH UPS!!!" He then made him do push ups until he couldn't anymore and then made him sprint ladders on the basketball court right next our building for 10 minutes. The entire time the drill instructor was cussing him out hard core. Props to this drill instructor because I have never heard that much creativity when it came to cussing someone out. A sacrament meeting never to be forgotten.

This weeks spiritual thought comes from Luke 22:44. It says "44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground." Sometimes when we think of the Saviors suffering in Gethsemane we think of Him passively taking upon Himself our sins, pains, illnesses, and weaknesses and just holding on for dear life. When in reality we can see that Jesus was actively overcoming all of those things for us as He was praying "more earnestly". It was a literal battle between good and evil and it was all up to Christ. Christ conquered all and worked out our salvation for us. He is the Good Shepherd and He won't let His sheep perish. I know He lives! Hope you have a great week!
