Deja Vu

Hey everyone! Sorry about now sending an email last week, my email was being really weird. So I will do a breif overview of the past couple weeks. Last Friday I went into the mission office to get some Book of Mormons and lo and behold the man, the myth, the legend, Ty Talbot was there to greet me haha. It was all by chance that I got to see him because I had no clue that he was going to be there. Shout out to Ty for being at the right place at the right time haha. Transfers also happened and I got a new companion named Elder Deering.

My friend Jeffrey got Baptized last week as well and it was so amazing. He went from not really knowing who Jesus Christ was, to bearing a powerful testimony at his Baptism about his love for the Savior.

I also went on an exchange with an Elder in the zone and we went and taught this guy who was sitting on his porch doing a crossword puzzle. I made the mistake of trying to make some small talk and ask him about the crossword puzzle and I unleashed the flood gates of the crossword puzzle world. We stood on the porch for 45 minutes as he unfolded the mysteries of the crossword puzzle gods. You would think that there wouldn't be that much to talk about with cross word puzzles, but in all honesty...you would be right. This guy was talking in circles. He went over the same three methods that he uses to solve the crossword puzzles for the entire 45 minutes, and he would act like he was telling us this ground breaking theory and he was expecting us to react like he solved world hunger. After the second time of going through his theories I thought I had some serious deja vu because I thought he had just told us that, so I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't in the matrix. Luckily his mouth got a little dry from all the lecturing so he had to take a drink, and that's when I made my move into sharing the gospel. We were able to share Joseph Smith's experience and first vision and he really felt the spirit.

This weeks spiritual thought is about one of my favorite names of Jesus Christ which is "The Healer". While I have been on my mission I have been able to see others be healed spiritually and I have been able to feel spiritually healed. We go through a lot in just one day of living on this earth, and it's impossible to go through a day without getting spiritual wounds whether they be big or small. We all need healing, sometimes we need it more than others, but we all need it no matter what. Jesus Christ chose to feel those wounds, He wasn't forced to go through what He went through. He chose to feel what we feel so He can know how to heal those spiritual wounds that we receive. As we come to Him and exercise faith in Him, He will heal those wounds and mend our broken hearts. In Jacob 2:8 in the Book of Mormon it says "8 And it supposeth me that they have come up hither to hear the pleasing word of God, yea, the word which healeth the wounded soul." One way that I have been able to come to the Savior is by hearing His word, by reading the Book of Mormon. I know for a fact that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and I stand by Joseph Smith when he said “a man or woman would get nearer to God by abiding by the book’s precepts, than by any other book”. I have experienced that for myself. I would invite you all to come unto Christ everyday by reading The Book of Mormon everyday, and it doesn't have to be a lot, it can be anywhere from 1 verse to 20 chapters. But I promise that as you make time for the Lord by reading the Book of Mormon, He will be able to heal our wounded souls daily. I know He lives and is mighty to save! Have a great week!
