"Is That A Bad Thing?"

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a great week. This week we have P day on Wednesday because we are going to the temple. This past week has been crazy with teaching which has been spiritually charging. Our mission president came down to Vista this past Saturday with his pickleball partner to have one last pickleball match. We also had 4 recruits that said that they wanted to get baptized in two weeks, so we're super excited about that. My friend in my last area, Roland, finally got baptized on Saturday! I got to video call in and watch the baptism and he was so happy.

This past week I was going through and calling people who were previously interested in our area book. I called this one guy named Travis who was taught a while back. He said that it was crazy that we reached out today because he had just picked up his copy of the Book of Mormon today to start reading it. He said that he was super down to meet so we set up a time to meet the next day at the church. The next day we met up with him and started talking about his experience with the missionaries in the past. He said that everytime that he meets with the missionaries it's through some crazy coincidence like the one he just had with us. He then starts meeting with them and he says that everytime without fail, his life starts to get better. Me and Elder Anderson glanced over at each other as if to say "we got him" but then he went back to say that it freaks him out. I then looked back at him and said "wait what?". He said that the closer he gets to God the better his life is and that it freaks him out how it actually effects his real life. I then asked him "Is that a bad thing?". He said no but he doesn't want that to happen again. We then finished the lesson and we walked him out. He then bowed and walked away. Me and Elder Anderson then just looked at each other with our jaws dropped and started laughing.

This weeks spiritual thought comes from the Book of Mormon in 3 Nephi 9:20 it says "20 And ye shall offer for a sacrifice unto me a broken heart and a contrite spirit. And whoso cometh unto me with a broken heart and a contrite spirit, him will I baptize with fire and with the Holy Ghost, even as the Lamanites, because of their faith in me at the time of their conversion, were baptized with fire and with the Holy Ghost, and they knew it not." I wanted to talk about the power of continually coming to Christ with a broken heart and a contrite spirit. Since being on my mission I've been able to utilize the gift of daily repentance to better my missionary skills and become a better disciple. Even though I am nowhere near perfect, I can testify of the power of having the Holy Ghost in my life, the messenger of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, that helps cleanse and change me as I come to God with a broken heart and a contrite spirit. I know He lives! Have a great week!
