The Last One

Hey eveyone! Hope you all had a great week! This week has been crazy!! I had my departing interview with my mission president and the departing temple trip with all the missionaries that are leaving. Yesterday our friend Kai was baptized and it was such a special way to end my mission.  On Wednesday I will return home. It doesn't seem real because this has been my life for the past two years. I have loved my mission! The California Newport Beach mission and all the people inside of it have been so good to me. I have made so many lifelong friends whether it be investigators, members, or missionaries. I am so grateful for the opportunity I have had to serve the people of Newport Beach California and more importantly, the Savior. Over these past two years I have had so many experiences with Him and He has worked miracles in my life. I have come to know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is His kingdom once again established on the earth today. Joseph Smith was His pr...

Getting Smoked

Hey everyone! Hope your week was good! This week went by so fast. I think the weeks go faster and faster as time goes by. This past week we had two baptisms. We had a recruit get baptized and our friend Michael got baptized into the ysa ward. It was such a cool week being able to see 5 children of God come back into His fold.  There is never a dull moment serving on the military base. There isn't any AC in the building that we have sacrament meeting in so we have to open the doors for any relief. The only bad thing about that is that we are on a military base where recruits are getting ripped to shreds by their drill instructors. They call it "getting smoked" whenever that happened. I've heard some crazy stories from the recruits about getting smoked, but I got to witness it with my own eyes this past Sunday. In the middle of sacrament this poor recruit that was right outside of our building was caught by a drill instructor and got smoked hard. The drill instructor ye...

Hey everyone! This week was really good! We had MLC so I got to see a bunch of old friends in the mission. We We also had 3 baptisms on Sunday for some recruits on base! It was so cool and all three of them were so happy. Like I said, three recruits were baptized. One of the recruits is particularly large and the kiddie pool that we use isn't too big. Because they need to be fully immersed in the water, they need to lay flat on their back to go all the way under. For this recruit that was getting baptized, he layed flat on his back and there were still parts of his body that were sticking up. Ironically we chose the smallest guy in the company to baptize him, so he was trying to push down his lower half but his upper half would come out of the water and he couldn't reach his upper half fast enough to push that down as well. We just needed his whole body to be submerged for just a second. The baptizer being creative started to drag him through the pool to try and create a wave t...

Hey everyone! Hope everyone had a good week! This week was really good. We found some cool people and put one of our recent converts cousins on date! His name is Kai! We also had a great week on base and should have some baptisms coming up in the next few weeks. Yesterday at church we had to go on a mini exchange because one of our district leaders needed me to do a baptismal interview for one of their friends. Their friend is awesome and passed the interview. I walked back to elders quorum with the district leader and went to switch back. The Elders quorum met in the overflow room and had created a circle but had pushed all of the chairs to the back of the room so there was no way of getting through. Sadly the missionary I was exchanging with was on the opposite side of the room. He got up and went to the back of the room and saw all the chairs. We stared at each other, confused on how we were going to get through. I started sliding chairs and stacking them. There was one guy sitting ...

Dog Eat Dog World

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a great week! This week was great for me! We taught a lot and we found some cool people too. We had a recruit get baptized on base yesterday, which was super fun. We also put our other friend Michael on date for July 14th! This week I reached out to one of my recent converts that I helped baptize in Oceanside at the first of the year. Her name is Sam and she is super cool. She messaged back and told me how she was. We messaged back and forth and then I found out that she and her husband just moved to our apartment complex! We set up a time to meet up with her and her husband at the dog park at the complex because she wanted me to meet their new dog. So later in the week we met up there and it was so good to see her and her husband. I was playing with their puppy and he was so cute, but their was a labradoodle that was massive also in the dog park. As I was trying to play with Sam's dog I was getting pushed around by this labradoodle. Not sure what the...

Missionaries Against The World

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a great week! This week our friend Hector got baptized and our friends Young and AJ that were baptized last week, got the priesthood the same night as Hectors baptism. We also had transfers, and Elder Anderson went home. My new comps name is Elder Ellis and he is awesome! This past week me and my comp had to go to the public library in Escondido to use the computers to plan a training that we were giving. Now, I love San Diego County but let's just say that you meet a lot of interesting people down here. As I was walking in, there was a homeless lady using one of the computers. She looked at me and I smiled and waved at her, and she then proceeded to flip me off for a solid ten seconds. Her finger followed me as I walked in, all the way until I sat down at the computer a few chairs down from her. She then turned back to her own computer and started yelling "Nicholas Cage is in the cave!!!" To my surprise the librarian didn't even give a ...
